Finally! A sunny, calm, relatively warm day! I put up our new ”Archwing” awning. It is truly a cool design and I sat and looked at how the stakes held in the wind and other characteristics and decided that it should be a pretty good thing in the long run. Taking it down may still be a hassle but that will have to wait until tomorrow. I gave an extended tour of our T@B to the park ranger this morning. By the time I got done there were a couple of park volunteers outside asking questions about it too. I took advantage of the good weather to ride the bike for several miles on the network of paved trails they have here. I expected to see a lot of wild life but saw nothing except for two alligators just hanging out in a small creek.
I took off in search of silicone spray which you spray in the channel that connects the awning to the T@B. I used that last I had putting the awning up this morning. It took forever to find the biggest Walmart I have ever seen and decided to stop for a parfait at a McD’s where I ended up helping a 60-70 something woman get her new computer to go online so she could make her daily stock trades. She started with $250,000 10 years ago and is traveling all over the country renting sublets and recovering from the stock hit she took during the crash which knocked her back to $500,000. Some life! Learned a lot in five minutes! Finished my yogurt and hit the beach where the wind was a red flag gale but the sun was warm. Flags were red on top for wind and dark blue on the bottom for ‘dangerous animals’- a shark killed a kite surfer yesterday not far from here. Yikes.
There was a knock at the door last night at about sundown and it was a couple from South Carolina who are camped in the river campground on the other side of the park in a T@B just like ours!! They were typical T@Bber’s in that we hit it off right away. They were both retired teachers and longtime tent campers like us. They still had camp to set up and we agreed that I’d come see their camp and did so tonight. They are on the users site so I’ll be able to keep track of them. I’m getting good at cooking steak in a frying pan but I am amazed at how often I have to go food shopping. Three meals a day wipes this little fridge and pantry out about every 4 days.
