On The Road At Last!

Finally! A short, sweet day of driving with clear skies and a tailwind!! Gas prices dropped 32 cents when I crossed into Missouri. Stopped for lunch at a LOUD I-70 rest area and took some time to try to clean out the DVD player in the T@B. Discovered that some discs just won't play in it but I have enough good ones for the trip. Stopped short of Kansas City, set the T@B up in a shady, cheap, level and unbelievably LOUD site. Highway is 1/4 mile away and the cicadas are singing at @95db. Tried to nap but the noise (add the fan at high speed) wouldn't allow it. Then the late afternoon temp went up to 95+. Ultimately gave in and dug the a/c out of the truck and set it up. Temps are nice now inside and, although I can still hear the chaos outside, it is diminished enough that I'll be able to get a good nights' rest. Tomorrow I should drive through some nasty weather but it is supposed to be much cooler on the other side of the front. Just checked the desert weather. Forecast is for a high of 78 with low humidity on my arrival day. Wonderful!!
