Writing Sunday Night 9/6/09
Saturday was dust-o-rama (hare-rama, rama-rama... been at center camp too long!) and made cleaning up and packing really difficult. The "Man" burned last night and was fantastic although we waited through a blinding dust storm before it cleared off. Exodus (actually leaving) on Saturday morning was tedious, slow and a hard thing to do overall. It was as much an event as the events of the week. Saw unbelievable wrecks on the way out. Mostly were due, apparently, to folks falling asleep at the wheel and running off the road where the VERY soft ground builds up and raises the wheels off the ground. It requires a crane to get the cars back on the road. Someone also lost a 25' trailer (probably disconnected from the car or truck) and it rolled and was destroyed. So sad to see peoples belongings stacked in a pile on the side of the road. I was able to get the truck & T@B washed by the Gerlach HS kids and parents!! I was also able to get rid of my waste water and trash at a truck stop for free!!! It is awesome to see the numbers of cars, trucks, campers, etc. on the road home. Dust or mud are teltale signs of the traveling burners. I found a vacuum station at a car wash just before I pulled in for the night back in Winnemucca. I got my laundry done and I'm way cleaner than I expected to be even two days from now. Yay! The temple is burning as I write and I can only imagine what final exodus will look like tomorrow. I will attempt to post several videos, take a long shower and then decide which route I'll use to come back east.
